Citygirl: Cathy Current
City: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
"My acting career has been a fast and furious one, but the first shoot I did for
Citygirls was pretty unforgettable. Now imagine me, a young woman, trecking out
from the GTA to some tiny little Independent Airport somewhere in southwestern Ontario..
Are you picturing me taking flying lessons? Well, I was actually there to model
with the planes!! Now I'm an "actor, (not a "model") and stranger things have
happened, so just try to envision me strutting and sashaying around like a
Princess along side these fabulous old fashioned structures!
Luckily I had a couple of pros on-hand to help guide me through. Jim, the
photographer, was extremely gracious and made me feel like a Goddess! You could
tell he loved his job because he did it well. A lot of photographers don't even
take the time to talk to you or give you any direction whatsoever, but this guy
was beveling like the best of them!
Thomas, the founder of Citygirls and the guy behind the "plane theme" was as
generous and accommodating as a girl could hope for. He had sandwiches, coffee,
chocolate, you name it, for the models. (this kind of treatment is very rare in
the Industry!) He was always careful to ask how I was doing and he made me feel
beautiful. (he even had somebody come and pick me up at the bus station!) It was
obvious that this man also loves what he does because he gets right in there and
tells you exactly what he wants - including sticking your tongue out at the
photographer when he's not looking!
I had a lot of fun at my first Citygirls shoot, and it was a great way to cap off
the summer. If you're a model, and you're interested in working for these guys, I
strongly encourage you give it a shot. Who knows, maybe your next shoot could
involve posing alongside some boats in the Toronto Islands, or even the VIA Rail
trains? I think I get where these guys are going..."
